Grouped cast nylon rods in multiple colors and diameters

Cast Nylon Grades & Material Properties

Use the operating condition—not color alone—to screen material options for stock shapes, near-net-shape blanks and machined components.

MATERIAL TERMINOLOGY

PA6G, PA6C and MC Nylon Terminology

PA6G and PA6C are commonly used designations for cast polyamide 6. MC Nylon is also used in the market for cast nylon material. The exact formulation, modifier, color and product-form availability must be confirmed for the quoted item.

Stock shapes can be supplied as rods, tubes, sheets and plates. The same material family can also be cast closer to a required geometry or machined into finished parts.

SELECTION OVERVIEW

Choose by Load, Motion and Environment

The right grade depends on the complete operating condition. A color may be used for identification, but similar colors can represent different formulations.

  • Load, contact pressure and duty cycle
  • Rotating, sliding, guiding or intermittent motion
  • Normal and peak temperature
  • Dry running, external lubrication or internal lubricant requirement
  • Water, humidity, oils, greases and chemical exposure
  • Impact, vibration and possible misalignment
  • Critical fits, tolerances and compliance documents

SELECTION FACTORS

Information That Changes the Material Decision

Load & Pressure

Define static, dynamic and contact loads, including shock or edge loading.

Speed & Motion

Describe speed, stroke, rotation, sliding direction and duty cycle.

Temperature

Provide normal and peak temperatures, exposure time and nearby heat sources.

Lubrication

State whether the application runs dry, uses external lubrication or requires a self-lubricating grade.

Moisture & Chemicals

Identify water, humidity, oils, greases, cleaning agents and chemicals.

Impact & Vibration

Describe shock, vibration, deflection and possible misalignment.

Tolerance & Compliance

List critical fits, dimensional stability needs and required documents.

PRODUCT FORMS

Apply the Grade to the Right Product Form

Not every grade, color and size combination is available in every product form. Confirm the combination before final material approval.

MATERIAL SELECTION DISCLAIMER

Use Typical Data for Screening—Not Final Design Approval

Material behavior depends on grade, color or additive package, dimensions, moisture conditioning, specimen preparation, test method, load, speed, temperature, lubrication, mating surface and environment. Final selection remains the buyer’s engineering responsibility and should use the data and acceptance requirements confirmed for the quoted material.
